WEEK 6: ELITE TEAM PICKS OF THE WEEK

I predicted a solid 9 games correctly last week while failing in five matchups. That included my upset pick of the Lions beating the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles. With only two teams on bye this week, I wouldn’t count out another major upset or two in Week 6! Get ready, NFL fans!

Denver Broncos (4-1) at San Diego Chargers (1-4)

The Broncos lost their first game last week at home versus the Falcons. Paxton Lynch had an okay outing. The Atlanta Falcons defense racked up 6 sacks and picked off the rookie quarterback. The Chargers lost their like a millionth game in last minute again last week. The Broncos win by ground and pound and by utilizing their all-star defense.

San Francisco 49ers (1-4) at Buffalo Bills (3-2)

The Bills took care of business behind a dominant defensive performance as well as 150 rushing yards from LeSean McCoy. The 49ers continue to struggle. I will easily take the Bills at home in this one, as McCoy and Co. get going early.

Philadelphia Eagles (3-1) at Washington Redskins (3-2)

The Eagles concurred their first L last in a close 1 point loss at Detroit. Carson Wentz had another dominant performance despite his first interception of the year. The Redskins, on the other hand, got a win against Baltimore behind a stellar defensive outing. I think the Eagles get back on track on the back of running back Ryan Mathews.

Cleveland Browns (0-5) at Tennessee Titans (2-3)

The Browns can’t seem to get a break. They got destroyed in Tom Brady’s return last week, while the Titans put up a double digit win versus Miami. DeMarco Murray continues to perform like one of the best halfbacks in the NFL and I think that continues this week at home.

Baltimore Ravens (3-2) at New York Giants (2-3)

The Giants lost in a close one at Lambeau Field last week and Janoris Jenkins picked up two rare Aaron Rodgers interceptions. The Ravens accrued a second loss in a row after yet another poor offensive outing. The Giants are playing like the better team and get the benefit of playing at MetLife.

Carolina Panthers (1-4) at New Orleans Saints (1-3)

Without Cam Newton, the Panther fell flat last week, although tight end had his breakout game with 181 receiving yards. The Saints come out fully rested off the bye. Newton returns this week, but I foresee Brees winning in a shootout.

Jacksonville Jaguars (1-3) at Chicago Bears (1-4)

The Jaguars come off the bye and head to Chicago to meet with a Bears team that seemed to gel with Brian Hoyer under center. Jordan Howard looks like the back that the Bears miss with Matt Forte gone. I think the Bears win a close one by three.

Los Angeles Rams (3-2) at Detroit Lions (2-3)

The Rams lost to Buffalo last week because of their troubles handling the football while Detroit won in a close one, beating Philly by one at Ford Field. This one probably comes down to ball security, and I think the Lions take care better at home and win for a second year in a row.

Pittsburgh Steelers (4-1) at Miami Dolphins (1-4)

Pittsburgh put together their most complete performance last week against New York as Roethlisberger had his offense soaring while the Steelers defense limited the Jets to 13. The Dolphins failed once again to secure a second win last week at home. These teams are trending in opposite directions, and Pitt wins again.

Cincinnati Bengals (2-3) at New England Patriots (4-1)

The Patriots are back! Brady has that offense revved up to full speed. This week presents a new challenge as the Bengals are much better than their Ohio counterpart. While they lost last week, they did hold the Cowboys passing attack in check. If the Patriots can get their running game going, this one could get out of hand at Gillete Stadium.

Kansas City Chiefs (2-2) at Oakland Raiders (4-1)

The Raiders won in a tight one last week at home versus SD, while the Chiefs took the week off after a demoralizing loss versus the Steelers. I think that the Raiders may be a little fool’s gold, and their pass defense is a mess. Give me the Chiefs upsetting the Black and Silver on the road.

Atlanta Falcons (4-1) at Seattle Seahawks (3-1)

Seattle was on bye last week while the Falcons took out the defending Super Bowl champs on their own soil. Atlanta looks like a team on the rise this season and we shall see if they can take out yet another top notch opponent away from the Georgia Dome.

Dallas Cowboys (4-1) at Green Bay Packers (3-1)

The Packers took care of business against the G-Men last week, although in semi-unconvincing fashion. The Cowboys keep winning after beating the Bengals behind the legs of Ezekiel Elliot. This game will be determined on whether the Packers O can get back on track and which team wins the battle between Dallas’ running game vs Packers’ league-leading run defense.

Indianapolis Colts (2-3) at Houston Texans (3-2)

The Sunday Night Football matchup this week is a good one. The Colts passing attack looked great last week while Houston fell flat on its face against the still unbeaten Minnesota Vikings. I think the Colts should be able to secure the victory here on the road.

New York Jets (1-4) at Arizona Cardinals (2-3)

These teams had very different outings last week as the Cards dominated and the Jets offense was quite underwhelming. The Jets received more bad news when it was announced that star wide receiver Eric Decker would be receiving season ending surgery. Mark me down for a Arizona win big at home behind a dominant performance by Larry Fitzgerald.
