Week two is in the books. I did not have as much success this time around as I did in Week 1, going 8-8. Week three is the last week this season with all 32 teams in action. Enjoy, NFL fans!
Houston Texans (2-0) at New England Patriots (2-0)
Two undefeated teams go at here and the headline is the huge question mark that is the Patriots quarterback position. Jacoby Brissett will get the start, and will need another big night from LeGarrette Blount if the Pats can pull out. The Texans are coming off a solid victory at home versus the Chiefs. I see Houston taking advantage of the Pats underwhelming offense.
Houston Texans 24 New England Patriots 20
Arizona Cardinals (1-1) at Buffalo Bills (0-2)
The Bills are coming off a close loss to the Jets and are hoping for some redemption here. The Cardinals got absolutely smacked by the Buccaneers in what was an embarrassing 40-7 loss. This one could get interesting, but I see the Cardinals offense getting back on track this week.
Arizona Cardinals 30 Buffalo Bills 21
Oakland Raiders (1-1) at Tennessee Titans (1-1)
The Titans pulled a stunner week against Detroit in a tight 16-15 victory. The Raiders lost in a shootout with the Falcons. When I look at this game, I see a top notch offense and one that is sputtering. Raiders take it on the road.
Oakland Raiders 24 Tennessee Titans 17
Cleveland Browns (0-2) at Miami Dolphins (0-2)
This game seems like quite the letdown for those viewing it. These two teams just don’t produce the type of headlines you expect in an NFL game. I expect this to be a sloppy one, with the home team surviving behind the arm of Tannehill.
Miami Dolphins 20 Cleveland Browns 13
Baltimore Ravens (2-0) at Jacksonville Jaguars (0-2)
This one is one I am excited to see. The Jaguars offense hasn’t really clicked yet but the Ravens have won two flat out bad games against poor opponents. I think the Jags get their passing game going and steal one at home.
Jacksonville Jaguars 30 Baltimore Ravens 24
Detroit Lions (1-1) at Green Bay Packers (1-1)
The Packers did not perform well against Minnesota last Sunday night, but I do think they will bounce back this week against a Detroit team that should be 2-0 but botched their game against the Titans. I think this one is going to be a performance to remember for Eddie Lacy.
Green Bay Packers 35 Detroit Lions 17
Denver Broncos (2-0) at Cincinnati Bengals (1-1)
The Broncos have put up back to back great performances and many believe that Trevor Siemian is the real deal in Mile High. While I don’t know if that is completely true just yet, I have learned to not underestimate the power of that Broncos D.
Denver Broncos 17 Cincinnati Bengals 14
Minnesota Vikings (2-0) at Carolina Panthers (1-1)
The Vikings lost Adrian Peterson for the season and still seem unsettled in the secondary. The Panthers are not the type of opponent you want that to be the case for, and I think Cam Newton and Co. will run wild.
Carolina Panthers 34 Minnesota Vikings 21
Washington Redskins (0-2) at New York Giants (2-0)
The Giants look great so far this season and I don’t think I have seen Eli Manning this comfortable this early in the season in awhile. The Redskins have a struggling offense and will be playing at MetLife Stadium. Not an ideal combination.
New York Giants 27 Washington Redskins 13
Los Angeles Rams (1-1) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-1)
The Rams pulled out against the Seahawks in a smash mouth game that ended without a touchdown scored. The Buccaneers, meanwhile, crushed Arizona in an incredibly impressive showing. I see the Bucs continuing their momentum with a big W versus LA.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 17 Los Angeles Rams 13
San Francisco 49ers (1-1) at Seattle Seahawks (1-1)
San Fran looked good early versus the Panthers after they took a first quarter lead but absolutely collapsed and allowed 46 points. The Seahawks struggled versus LA and it seems as if their offensive line is severely holding them back, as is the loss of "Beast Mode”.
Seattle Seahawks 28 San Francisco 49ers 10
New York Jets (1-1) at Kansas City Chiefs (1-1)
Ryan Fitzpatrick put on a show against the Bills last week and received heavy support from the likes of Matt Forte and Eric Decker, who each scored and gained 120 yards in their respective categories. The Chiefs pulled out a one score victory versus the Texans and had no notable performances. I see the Jets taking this one.
New York Jets 23 Kansas City Chiefs 20
San Diego Chargers (1-1) at Indianapolis Colts (0-2)
The Colts looked stagnant once again, being out thrown and gaining less yards on the ground. Simply put, if Indy wants to get anywhere this season, both sides of the ball need to improve significantly. The Chargers continued their offensive burst, as Gordon put up a hundred and a score once again. I think the Colts defend their home turf and get win number one this week.
Indianapolis Colts 30 San Diego Chargers 24
Pittsburgh Steelers (2-0) at Philadelphia Eagles (2-0)
Another battle of two undefeated teams, I still am not totally buying into Philly, as they have played two underwhelming opponents. Pittsburgh’s defense shut down the Bengals last week, and I foresee similar dominant play again this week.
Pittsburgh Steelers 20 Philadelphia Eagles 9
Chicago Bears (0-2) at Dallas Cowboys (1-1)
The Bears seem to have a problem with their offense, as they haven’t been able to produce a lot through the air. While the Cowboys have had troubles of their own once they reach the opposing side of the field, their offense has a workhorse in Elliot to lead them to another victory this week.
Dallas Cowboys 19 Chicago Bears 16
Atlanta Falcons (1-1) at New Orleans Saints (0-2)
I’m actually very excited to see this game because there is always fireworks on offense when these two teams face off. Atlanta scored an impressive road win at Oakland but I think the Saints will be able to take care here at home.
New Orleans Saints 35 Atlanta Falcons 31
